Brooklyn Writers Space Pop-Up Book Festival

June 26, 2021 @ 12:30 pm 3:30 pm

5th Ave & Garfield Place in Park Slope as part of Park Slope’s Saturday Open Streets

In celebration of the gradual reopening of New York City, Brooklyn Writers Space will be hosting an outdoor, pop-up book festival celebrating our members whose books have been published throughout the course of the pandemic. The event will take place on 5th Ave and Garfield Place during Park Slope’s Saturday Open Streets. In collaboration with Community Bookstore, authors will be signing copies of their books available for purchase. The event will also feature live music from the pandemic-formed band Unisex, raffles for prizes from Kos Kaffe, and interactive literary installations.

Featuring writer members:

12:30-1:00pm Susan Berfield (The Hour of Fate, 2020) / Heidi Schreck (Broadway’s What the Constitution Means to Me) / Julie Orringer (The Flight Portfolio, 2020 - paperback)
1:00-1:30pm Mary Morris (All the Way to the Tigers, 2020) / Maisy Card (These Ghosts Are Family, 2020)
1:30-2:00pm Anna Solomon (The Book of V, 2020) / Heidi Diehl (Lifelines, 2020 - paperback) / Erin Courtney (Ann Fran & Mary Anne, 2021)
2:00-2:30pm Courtney Zoffness (Spilt Milk, 2021) / Caitlin Mullin (Please See Us, 2020) / Cathy Park Hong (Minor Feelings, 2020)
2:30-3:30pm - music by Unisex

Additional books by Brooklyn Writers Space members Kimberly McCreight (A Good Marriage, 2020), Joanna Hershon (St. Ivo, 2020), and Alex Halberstadt (Young Heroes of the Soviet Union, 2020) will also be available for purchase.

The pop-up book festival will also include live music from the band Unisex whose 10 song debut record, Powerful Situations released in April of this year from Campers’ Rule Records. Unisex’s music is a reflection of the American political turmoil pre-and-post pandemic, the ongoing environmental collapse and the lingering ramifications of an economic system based on capitalism.
