2018-2019 Reading Series at Community Bookstore

Courtney Zoffness won the 2018 Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award, the largest international prize for short fiction, besting entries from 40 countries. She also received the 2017 Arts & Letters Creative Nonfiction Prize, the 2016 American Literary Review Fiction Prize, and an Emerging Writing Fellowship from The Center for Fiction. Zoffness was a resident artist at The MacDowell Colony and a Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference scholar, and her work has appeared in The Southern Review, Indiana Review, Los Angeles Review of Books, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. She directs the Creative Writing Program at Drew University, and is the 2018-2019 Writing Workshops in Greece Fellow in Prose.

Greg Gerke’s fiction and non-fiction has appeared in Tin House, The Kenyon Review Online, Film Quarterly, and others. A book of stories, My Brooklyn Writer Friend, is out from Queens Ferry Press.

 

 

Scott Adkins is a playwright with an MFA from Brooklyn College. He is a 2016 MacDowell Colony Fellow. His play RUNNING COMMENTARY is published in the Joyce Cho Anthology by 53rd State Press, and THE ANTI-GARDENER is published by PAJ. His work has been seen at St. Ann’s Warehouse in the puppet lab, Prelude, Five Myles, La MaMa, Dixon Place, and NACL. In addition to playwriting he has co-produced the Folk Play Project, Tom Murrin Festival, and Cho-Chiqq backyard bbq theater. He is a co-founder of the Brooklyn Writers Space and Sock Monkey Press.
